Let All That You Do Be Done With Love – 1 Corinthians 16:14
I saw this little chef statue next to a coffee shop. The verse made me reflect on how I often say, “If you are going to do something, do it well” (I say it mostly in Spanish). I don’t know where I learned this quote, perhaps from my maternal grandmother. In writing this post I searched on Google for the quote and couldn’t find it. I did find a similar quote from Walt Disney, see that one at the end of this post.
When I get upset over small things, my mom tells me to do things with love and for love of God. I do things with love, particularly for my family, but sometimes, in the routine of our daily lives, we forget, or should I say I forget. Sometimes, I am tired or frustrated, and I may snap or say something unkind to my husband when he does a small thing which annoys me (simple things which are really not important in the overall scheme of things, such as leave items out instead of putting them away). After reading this verse, I came home and simply put the things I found on the kitchen counter away without saying anything unkind to my husband about it. I figured, if I am going to do it, I might as well do it with love and not complain. So, from now on, not only am I going to try to continue doing things well, I am also going to try to do them with love, every day. I was grateful to have read this verse because it made me reflect on how I shouldn’t let simple things rob me of my inner peace…I should do those simple tasks and do them with love.
