My Love of Wrap Dresses
Wrap dresses are my favorite type of everyday dress. They hug you at the waist – and that flatters most figures, including mine. Wrap dresses are very practical! I am a huge fan of them! Many of my work dresses are wrap dresses. My favorite brand is BCBG. I buy them at the BCGB stores, at the BCBG Outlet stores, Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Macy’s. I also have a few other brands, such as Banana Republic and Ann Taylor. Saks and Saks Off 5th also carry multiple other brands (at reasonable prices).
Here are the top reasons why I love wrap dresses: Continue reading
Spring Feathers
With the arrival of spring, I have started wearing lighter blouses and am enjoying the translucent trend. The print on the blouse reminds me of peacock feathers, with tones of blue, yellow, green, turquoise, and white. It is fun to wear bright colors, such as these green skinny jeans. They seem to lighten up any outfit and bring it to life! Continue reading

Fashion Week San Diego 2014: Part 1
Fashion Week San Diego is here! If you like fashion and beauty, this is the annual event to attend! The event is being held from September 29 – October 5. It includes five nights with runway shows, art, beauty, and on the sixth day there will be a Trunk Show and the Fashion Awards. The runway shows are being held September 30 – October 4, at the Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego. The Trunk Show and Fashion Awards will be held on October 5, at The Horton Grand Hotel & Theatre, in the Gaslamp area of downtown San Diego. The runway shows and Trunk Show/Awards are events open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the door. Ticket prices, event schedule, list of designers, and more information can be found on the Fashion Week San Diego website. You can still attend three more days of the event!
Lola joined me for two days of the runway shows. We enjoyed the event and seeing the latest trends. The designers are local and it is good to support local talent! It was nice to run into some familiar faces and designers I’ve met at past events! Here are pics from Day 2 – Part 1: Woven Together Runway Show (see link for list of designers). There were so many nice pieces that I took lots of pictures. I will divide the posts for Day 2 & Day 3. There was also a Haute Dog Runway Show benefiting the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, the doggies are adorable & available for adoption!
Hope you like the pics!
Have you been to Fashion Week San Diego this year or in the past? Do you know or wear items from local designers?
Hugs,
Paola

Weekend Fun & Links
This past week we had plans on a few nights, which made the week go by quite fast! Does this happen to you as well? The weather in San Diego was odd this week, we had a heat wave and storm, it was in the high 90s-low 100s. The warm weather made me want to jump into a pool! Did you cool off in a pool this week? Thankfully, the weather seems to be back to normal and pleasant again!
What are you up to this weekend? We went to see an outdoor movie with my family (pic on FB)! We also went out for dinner to one of our favorite restaurants! Saturday, I started to clear out a few items from my closet and did lots of reading. I have been busy and haven’t dedicated as much time as I’d like to finishing the books I am reading. I am learning about meditation and the psychology of happiness. I have been meditating with a yoga/meditation DVD I have at home . It helps me breathe deeply, reflect, and remind myself to be grateful – everyday!
Thank you for your comments on the blog and on Facebook! I appreciate your support more than you can imagine! I am trying to post more often and am glad you like the topics! On Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, I share daily pictures, outings, and include links to blog posts, in case you also want connect there! I’d love to hear from you!
Hope you have a nice rest of your weekend! Here are a few links from the web: fashion, helpful tips, some make me want to workout more often, others are simply fun! Hope you like them!

Paola

Find Of The Week: Fossil Skinny Jeans
TJMaxx continues to surprise me. The find of the week are these Fossil pink denim skinny jeans. The original tag on the jeans lists $98.00. The price I paid at TJMaxx was $19.99. Yup, only $20 bucks, gotta love that! The jeans are also available in other colors (red & blue) and multiple sizes. They are a recent arrival because they are displayed at the front of the women’s department (making them easy to find). I wore the jeans a few days ago to go to the movies with Lola. I matched them with a white polka-dot top, pink leopard print belt, and gray shoes. The jeans have some stretch to them, making them even more comfortable!
A girl at the movie theatre stopped me to compliment me on my outfit. Compliments always make one feel good!
These pants can be worn into the fall with a dark or long-sleeve top, just add a jacket or sweater ,and some booties . I look forward to wearing them in the fall & next spring!
Did you find any good items on sale this week? I’d love to hear from you.
Hugs,
Paola
PS – I also have these jeans in red and coincidentally matched them with a blue polka dot sweater top, you can see those Outfit of the Day pictures here.

Encontraste algún artículo a precio especial ésta semana? ¡Me encantaría saber de ti!
Un abrazo,
Paola
PD – También tengo estos jeans en rojo, oprime aqui para ver fotos de como los combine para el Atuendo Del Día.

Black on Black
Hi friends,
Black is one of my favorite colors for clothing! It never goes out of fashion, feels stylish, yet simple, is easy to wear. Plus, it makes us look thinner. I have added quite a bit of color to my wardrobe, but black is still a staple color. I used to wear all black a few times per week, love the look, but now you’ll see me in all black only a few times per month. I have practically every clothing item (multiple times) and many shoes in black. Isn’t every women’s closet like this? I’ll write a post later on regarding staple items a women should have in her wardrobe and a black skirt, slacks, cardigan, and jeans, as well as pumps are top on that list!
I got these black NYDJ tuxedo jeans at Nordstom Rack, they are quite versatile. I can dress them up with a jacket or a shiny top, or get a casual look with a tank top. They are also a good option for a casual work look by adding a collared shirt or a jacket.
Recently, I wore them to an event and added a bright pink leopard belt to add a pop of contrast color and a pair of bright Carlos Cantana heels! I put on two gold tone necklaces and I was ready to go! I also wore this outfit to work during the day with a suit jacket.
This outfit can easily be worn again with different color belt or shoes, even all black, silver or gold tone accessories as well. I also like to wear all black and a bright jacket or sweater, with a contrasting belt!
Hope you like the look!
Do you wear all black sometimes? What do you think about adding a contrasting belt or shoes in a bright color?
Hugs,
Paola

Pretty in Pink
Hi friends,
Lola wore this cute Betsey Johnson dress to an event recently and I asked her if I could take pictures of her for an Outfit Of The Day post. It is the perfect dress for spring! She paired it with a pair of pink Tahari heels. The blue Coach purse added a pop of contrast color, which was a nice touch to the outfit. The dress’ style is an overlay of pink on white, a trend for this spring.
I would describe Lola’s style as classic and she tends to dress conservative. She said she had doubts about buying this dress, but once she put it on felt comfortable in it and ready for spring! It was nice to see that she went out of her comfort zone and wore this dress. She received multiple compliments at the event!
Remember friends, the most important thing is to feel comfortable with your own style and what you are wearing…..because the happy women are the prettiest women!
I loved the look – hope you do too!
Have you purchased any pink dresses or blouses for the spring season? What do you think of the overlay trend?
Hugs,
Paola

Floral Spring
Hi friends,
Spring is in the air! You can see it in the gardens with the blooming gardens and all the gorgeous colors! I like spring, it brings easter, longer days and warmer weather! The longer days are ideal for outdoor activities and one of my favorite activities, long walks!
This spring, floral print is everywhere! I got this skirt recently and was looking forward to wearing it, I paired it with a champagne blouse, pink belt, and nude suede shoes. The necklace was a purchase I made at Forever21 and just couldn’t seem to find the right outfit to wear it with, until this day!
Hope you like the look!
Do you have any floral print clothing, shoes, or accessories? Do you like this floral print trend? What is your favorite thing about spring?
Hugs,
Paola

Jazzing Up the Black Jacket
Hi friends,
Black is one of my favorite colors to wear! It is easy to match an goes with practically everything…and, it’s slimming! Black never goes out of style, plus you can wear it year round. My closet includes at least one item in black for each category: shoes, sandals, boots, tennis shoes, belts, scarves, pashminas, gloves, hats, jewelry, and of course all types of clothing and undergarments! I have lots of black pants, skirts, and cardigan sweaters (I take one of them practically on every trip). The most common shoe color in my closet is black. My favorite jacket is a black leather one. So, you get the idea….I love wearing black!
The jacket I am wearing in this outfit is part of a suit, it comes with a black skirt. I decided to jazz it up by mixing it up with red tapered pants, a leopard belt, and a bold gold necklace! The red pants lighten up the outfit and add color to it! Since the jacket is 3/4 length, I wore heels to elongate my legs. I like how the red stitching on the jacket adds a special touch of uniqueness. I wore this outfit to work and a theater performance in the evening. It was so comfortable & fun to wear!
Hope you like the look!
Do you have black clothing & accessories? How do you match them? Do you have a favorite item in black in your closet?
Let’s stay connected – I post almost daily on Facebook:Paola Hernandez-Jiao: Latina Life And Style, hope to see you there as well! Leave your comments or let me know what other looks you’d like to see or topics you’d like me to cover.
Hugs,
Paola
The outfit can be worn with the jacket closed.
Or, with the jacket open, which is how I chose to wear it during the day.
The leopard belts adds an additional touch of style to the outfit, don’t you think? I wear this belt often, it was definitely a good purchase!
