Work Appropriate Accessory Tip: Throughout my career I have gotten advice from mentors and other professionals. About ten years ago, a friend of mine who is the CEO of her own company told me a mentor had given her a professional attire tip. The mentor said it was not professional to wear multiple bangles to work because they were disruptive. This was ten years ago, even before it was trendy to wear bangles. We have a family friend who is a diamond trader and high-end jeweler. We visit his office when we want to purchase a special item. On one visit, I inquired about gold bangles. He frowned and nodded his head, and said he did not design bangles because they were too loud when they banged against tables and not a classic piece, in his opinion.
The advice from both people stuck with me. As much as I like wearing multiple bangles and they are trendy right now, I don’t wear them to work, meetings, speaking engagements, or commercial and television shoots because they are loud and disruptive. They are particularly loud when they bang against each other or a table and desk. I also find they get in the way when I am typing at the computer or using the mouse. If I wear them to work, I only leave one on and take the rest off at my desk when I arrive. Before I leave for the day, I put the bangles back on and I am ready for any social outing! It seems the saying, there is a a right time and a right place for everything, may also apply to wearing too many bangles to work!
If you greatly enjoy wearing multiple bracelets to work, mesh bracelets may be a good option. The two bracelets I wore in in the pictures below are mesh material, so they don’t make noise when they come in contact with each other or against a table/desk (see the full Casual Friday outfit pictures).
This is an accessory suggestion. But, in a professional work environment, I do think it is important to be considerate of others, and that includes noise made by bangles we wear.
Hugs,
Paola

For casual outings and social events, I still enjoy wearing, and mixing and matching multiple bangles, as seen below:
