With the arrival of spring, I have started wearing lighter blouses and am enjoying the translucent trend. The print on the blouse reminds me of peacock feathers, with tones of blue, yellow, green, turquoise, and white. It is fun to wear bright colors, such as these green skinny jeans. They seem to lighten up any outfit and bring it to life! Continue reading
Even though it is warm almost year-round in San Diego, we have a few cold weeks during winter. I love wearing jackets and as soon as the weather gets a bit chilly, I pull them out! Yet, in our town, during winter, you can wear a small jacket with a tank top underneath and Continue reading
Black is one of my favorite colors to wear! It is easy to match an goes with practically everything…and, it’s slimming! Black never goes out of style, plus you can wear it year round. My closet includes at least one item in black for each category: shoes, sandals, boots, tennis shoes, belts, scarves, pashminas, gloves, hats, jewelry, and of course all types of clothing and undergarments! I have lots of black pants, skirts, and cardigan sweaters (I take one of them practically on every trip). The most common shoe color in my closet is black. My favorite jacket is a black leather one. So, you get the idea….I love wearing black!
The jacket I am wearing in this outfit is part of a suit, it comes with a black skirt. I decided to jazz it up by mixing it up with red tapered pants, a leopard belt, and a bold gold necklace! The red pants lighten up the outfit and add color to it! Since the jacket is 3/4 length, I wore heels to elongate my legs. I like how the red stitching on the jacket adds a special touch of uniqueness. I wore this outfit to work and a theater performance in the evening. It was so comfortable & fun to wear!
Hope you like the look!

There are many things to like about the changes in season. One of them is “sales”! When seasons change, last season’s items are on sale, many at double or triple reduced price. So, this is a good time to buy winter items, particularly items that will still be in style next year. For example, a few key pieces such as boots, black slacks or skirts, coats, cardigans, tights, you get the idea. I had been eyeing a pair of black leather booties and on a recent visit to the Nine West Outlet store, these were on sale. At $49.99, it was a sale that was just too good to pass up on! There were many pairs on the shelves – and they are also available in brown and gray. I wore them a few days ago and may wear them this week since the weather has been a bit chilly. In addition to being beautiful, these are surprisingly quite comfortable! I have multiple pairs of Nine West shoes and the quality lasts forever, so I know I will be enjoying wearing these for a few years to come! Happy shopping friends!
Do you have booties? In what color?
There is a liner covering the zipper, so the zipper will not scratch your skin.
This is how I wore them a few days ago.

Sometimes, there are fashions that are new or come back that I am just not too crazy about, or I feel are just not for me. The leopard print is one of them. I like it, but in moderation. I have a few leopard scarves, belts, and shoes, but that is about it. This is my first leopard blouse! Can you believe it?
I’ve seen leopard clothing and accessories everywhere and like how it looks on others, it just seems a bit much for me. I tend to lean more towards classic styles and solids, with a touch or two of print (nothing too crazy on the print either). Maybe it is because I work in the television industry and solids look better on-air, or maybe because I know for the most part that solids make one look thinner (unless you wear certain stripes that give the illusion of being thinner). I do like seeing leopard prints on other women. In my opinion, it is beautiful and bold if you accessorize it correctly and don’t over do it. Just a touch of leopard print, maybe a purse, shoes, belt, scarf, and either the skirt, pants or blouse (not everything together at once though, in my opinion).
A few weeks ago, I was out shopping with Lola after one of our speed walks downtown and bought this blouse. I liked the print and particularly that it is easy to care for since it is a polyester blend (dry cleaning and ironing are not required). Lola also liked it and that convinced me to go out of my comfort zone and buy it. To keep it simple, I wore it with a black skirt and accessorized it with a gold necklace.
Recently, during a visit to my hair dresser, she was wearing a short black skirt with booties, she looked stylish and classy. After about an hour, I noticed she was wearing black pantyhose. That is probably what made her whole outfit look classy for work, versus sexy (which is fine if that is the look she was going for – and could easily change into after work for a “night out” look). So, I decided to wear my booties and black pantyhose with this outfit.
I felt like a million bucks that day, stylish, yet not too over the top in leopard print.
What is your opinion on wearing leopard print? Do you own any leopard print items? What are they? How do you match and accessorize them?

Do you get pedicures during the winter season? I get pedicures on a regular basis. Every four to six weeks I go into the nail salon and get a spa pedicure. It is fantastic, a little “me” time. Sometimes, I don’t have time to get to the salon and will paint over the polish, in an attempt to stretch the pedicure a few days until I can get to the salon.
Recently, I went on a vacation with my hubby to Orlando and was glad I had a pedicure, so my toes were sandal and beach ready!
Of course, living in Southern California, w can pretty much wear open toe shoes year round, but it does get cold for a few months during the year. This is when we bring out our boots and wear socks with our shoes. Some of my friends don’t get pedicures during the winter season because they say their toes aren’t visible in the boots. This got me wondering about how many women don’t get pedicures during the winter?
Do you get a pedicure on a regular basis? Do you gat a pedicure during the winter season?
ESPANOL: Hola amigos,
Se hacen pedicure durante el invierno? Yo voy a hacerme pedicures regularmente.
I spent lots of time wearing these during our vacation…glad my toes were sandal ready!
I also spent lots of time relaxing with my feet up 🙂
Pase mucho tiempo relajando, con mis pies elevados 🙂

Hi friends – Hope you had a nice weekend!
Sometimes, you can find the cutest clothes at the places you least expect. A few months ago, while buying household items, I saw this cute blue & mint peplum top at Target, yes Target! Isn’t it cute? I was excited to finally wear it! It is peplum style, so it is flattering for all body types. I like the exposed zipper detail it has on the back, it adds a little edge to it. It has been hanging – unworn – in my closet for a few weeks because I had tried it on with different skirts and pants, but just couldn’t find the right bottom to wear it with. I recently bought this dark red pencil skirt at Macy’s, and voila, I had a skirt to wear with the blue peplum blouse. Of course being the practical dresser that I am, this red skirt is a classic style, which I will be wearing often and hopefully for years to come. I matched it with brick red belt, to accentuate my waist, and nude heels to elongate the legs. I opted for silver accessories since the belt has a silver buckle and the zipper on the back of the blouse is silver tone.
I wore this outfit for a Disneyland Resort interview I hosted for ABC10 and liked it so much that a week later I wore it to host an interview on Azteca San Diego regarding the San Diego Latino Film Festival. They are different stations, with different viewers and I was covering different topics, so I figured the viewers wouldn’t notice – I try to wear different outfits for interviews & shoots 😉 .
I wore a Tory Burch white cardigan sweater throughout the day since the air conditioning makes the station a bit cold. This outfit will be wonderful for the spring and summer. I can also see myself wearing it outside of work, maybe for a luncheon or baptism (there area few infants among my family and friends, so I have a few baptisms coming up).
Do you have any peplum tops? Do you have pencil skirts? What do you think of the red and blue combination?
Funny note: Last time I wore a red & blue outfit, granted both colors were a lot brighter than these, many women commented on how they liked the pop of the bright colors….on the other hand, the men (my husband included) said they were “superhero” colors, haha, guess it reminded them of Superman in his red & blue superhero suit. Funny how mens minds work differently than womens’!
How I wore it for work:
During the ABC 10 interview. – with Mickey Mouse and the Disneyland Resort team.
During the Azteca San Diego interview – with Ethan Van Thillo, from the San Diego Latino Film Festival.
Hi friends, colorblock skirts create a sleek and slimming silhouette. This red and black pencil skirt has that effect, particularly because the black is on the sides. I wore it with gold tone accessories and a little black wool sweater. We only have a few more weeks of chilly weather in Southern California, so I figured I should wear my sweaters before it gets too warm. I wore peep toe platform pumps to elongate the legs since the pencil skirt falls under the knee. Hope you like the look!
Do you have any colorblock skirts or dresses?
PS- I also included some fun impromptu shots we took while taking the Outfit of the Day pictures, as well as some pictures from the party we went to afterwards, and how I wore it during the day for work. It was a long day….but fun and productive!
While we were taking the pictures, our friend Luis Monteagudo, who works at the County of San Diego, happened to be walking by and stopped to say hi. It was past 5:00pm and his office is located just a few blocks away, so he was leaving work for the day.
Then, Luis took a pic of Lola and me. Lola has been helping me take the Outfit of the Day pictures. She is a wonderful friend!
After we took the pics, we jumped in the car to head to an Election Night Party. Lola took this picture while we were about to leave the parking lot.
A picture from the Election Night Party. We had so much fun! Luis was also at the party. The host, Pedro Anaya came over to greet us (pictured next to me).

This champagne blouse has become my go-to blouse. It is a classic style that matches with everything. I love how it feels silky and easily dresses up an outfit. I have worn it with skirts and pants; in the studio to host interviews (it looks good on-camera with my skin tone) and to a first communion celebration. This is a staple item every woman should consider having in her closet – and it never goes out of style! Mine isn’t silk, it is polyester, so it is easy to care for. I have silk clothing, it is delicate and requires dry cleaning. This blouse is practical, I wash it at home and put it in the dryer. It doesn’t even require ironing (as long as I immediately hang it up after removing it from the dryer). The times I wore it, it was tucked in, but it can also be worn untucked – with skinny jeans or a mini skirt. The time I wore it for the first communion, even my brother, who is a super guys-guy type, complimented me on the blouse! He was surprised when I told him how much I paid for it (or should I say, how little) and that it was actually polyester, not silk. It looks so nice that he thought it was an expensive designer silk blouse.
The pencil skirt has a high waist and is made of stretchy material, making it comfortable to wear. Also, got a great deal on the skirt! It reminds me of a Versace print.
I bought this outfit for under $50 (blouse & skirt) at Forever21, purchased on separate days.
The jacket is one of my favorite items, I’ve had it for years. Love that it is light, yet warm enough for chilly days. I’ve been looking for a new similar one, but the one’s I have found are double-breasted and have a belt. I want a single breasted one like this one, without a belt, still haven’t found one. I’ll let you know when I do (or, if you know where I can find one, please share the info in the comments).
By the way, the shoes are what I call “dinner or studio” shoes. Not comfortable for extended wear, but they look great on-camera. I wore them to the studio to host an interview, then changed back into my more comfortable heals afterwards. The nude color is very versatile and elongates your legs!
Do you have a classic white or champagne blouse? When & how did you wear it last? Did you wear it for work or a special occasion, or with jeans for the weekend? Do you have nude heals?

Hi friends, happy Saturday! Are you enjoying your weekend? I want to share this find of the week with you! I’ll also share a new shoe term I learned – “shootie.” It is is a combination between a women’s heel & bootie, cute name. As you know, I am a fan of shoes, love, love, looooove them! So much, that an important part of the design of my closet Continue reading
Hi friends, hope you are having a magnificent week! The weather this week has been a bit chillier, so hopefully you are keeping warm. Last night, I was looking through my closet to select a dress for the three shoots I had – an interview and two commercials. I knew commercial would be airing quite a bit, so I wanted to select a nice dress. I saw this pretty bright blue dress, which I have only worn once. So, I decided to add a few things to it to make it appropriate for winter. I added a red jacket, black tights, and black heels (boots would have also been a fun and stylish option). The jacket has gold tone buttons, so I opted for gold tone jewelry. Voila – I had a winter outfit! I wore the jacket throughout the day and removed it for the shoots.
If you have a dress that you want to transform into a winter outfit, simply add a jacket or cardigan, and some tights. Just like that, you’ll have a new way to wear the dress during the season when the weather is colder!
Have you been wearing tights with dresses this winter? Do you have a dress you’d like to wear in the winter season?
The dress has a black band around the waistline, so I added black tights and heels.
I like the stitching detail on the jacket and the gold tone buttons.
A tip – I usually do not open the pockets on jackets (unless I need them), this way the jacket stays more tapered around the waistline.
Here’s a picture from my shoot for the commercial.
This was taken just as we finished the interview.

Hi friends! Do you have a favorite outfit this season? Mine is this red jacket from Arden B. I bought it before the winter season began and have worn it many times this holiday season! It is warm, comfortable, and can be worn open or closed. I like it so much that I have worn it for work, casual outings, and on recent trips to San Francisco and Newport Beach (these pics were taken at South Coast Plaza in Newport). It was practical for traveling because it did not get wrinkled in my carry-on bag, always a plus. It can be dressed up with a skirt (or dress) and heels, or worn with jeans and boots – as I wear it here! I also purchased the jacket in a camel color, but have only worn that one twice. We have a few weeks of chilly weather left in Southern California (ok, our version of chilly weather), so I will try to wear this red jacket a few more times….I’ll stretch the season out and continue wearing the jacket as long as I can! I get compliments every time I wear it, which is always nice. Most importantly, I feel great…confident and stylish every time I wear it, you can’t beat that! For all these reasons, this is my favorite outfit of the season!
Which is your favorite outfit of the season?
PS – I wore my hair up to accentuate the high collar & ruffles the jacket has. I also applied red lipstick, this is my favorite Chanel tone for the season (a gift from my comadre Marissa, comadre = mother of my goddaughter).
Jacket: Arden B. We all have what is called a “go to” item in our closet, be it a dress, suit, skirt, top, jeans…an item we know will not let us down. I have multiple “go to” items! This one shoulder, floral blouse is on of them. I bought it for a trip to Miami. Then, I wore it in Las Vegas for dinner with friends (with other couple’s), to emcee and do the Ribbon Cutting at the Grand Opening of restaurant at Westfield Mission Valley, for my hubby’s birthday party, and recently to a baptism. I was close to wearing it to this year’s Mana de San Diego Brindis Gala, but chose to wear a black dress instead (which has recently been added to the “go to” list). I like that I can wear the top with a mini skirt or capris for a Miami brunch on the beach look, or dress it up with slacks or a skirt and heels for a dressier look. It is also good for a day or night look, by changing the accessories, purse, and shoes! Plus, because of the materials, it is easy to wash at home & doesn’t require ironing (which also makes it a good item for traveling)! That is music to my ears! This how I matched it…to wear to the baptism! What is your favorite “go to” item?

Fashion Week San Diego – Day 3, included a number runway shows & a doggie fashion show with pets that were adoptable from the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. The fashion was amazing & inspiring! I originally wasn’t planning on attending Day 3 of FWSD, but due to some scheduling changes I was able to make it and enjoyed it! My friends Kim Rescate and Ana Pines also attended, so it was an added treat to spend time with them! This show included bathing suits, hats, and local designers, such as Diestra and Dos Caras Swimwear, it was wonderful! There was a dj playing music and it added to the lively mood. Since it was a Friday, people stayed and mingled after the show, and later headed to the after party. I didn’t attend the after party because I was scheduled to speak and participate at the Walk Now for Autism Speaks event the next morning. I did have an opportunity to meet one of the designers from Diestra after the show, she recognized me from my television job and came over to say hi, it was nice to meet her! Fashion Week San Diego (FWSD) was held recently – I was looking forward to the fashion shows and events for a few weeks! The runway shows were held at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, a very appropriate venue for this event! I wasn’t able to attend all of the events due to other commitments, but did attend the first three days. The first day was titled The Art & Beauty Behind Fashion which featured beauty industry experts. The experts spoke about their experience in fashion as it relates to beauty, nails, hair, & makeup. There were also local artists doing live art demonstrations and a silent auction. My friend Lola went to the event with me and we had fun. It was interesting to learn about how the speakers got involved in the industry and about the beauty tips they shared, as well as the latest trends in beauty. Have you been to FWSD?
With stripes – and black and white in fashion right now, I found this dress about three weeks ago. Even though they say horizontal lines can sometimes not be flattering because they make us look wider, I tried it on and liked the way it fit and looked. I am not a huge fan of long dresses, but I liked this one! I figured, I can wear it during the end of summer and into the fall, then again in the spring! The dress is not only cute, it is very comfortable to wear! I can mix and match it with various colored belts, sweaters, jackets, and scarves. I styled it with this hat, pink belt & wedges. I wore it today, Sunday – my hubby and I met our friends Mary and Dante for lunch at Il Fornaio in Coronado. They live in Florida and are in town on vacation. It was nice to see them, they are two of the nicest people we know! We had a wonderful time with them!
