Comedies are one of my favorite genre of movie. It’s even better when the comedy is inspired by a true story, as is the case of this movie, Tag. I watched the trailer for Tag and was instantly interested in seeing it. Then, I read the synopsis and was even more intrigued. Tag is a story about a group of five highly competitive friends which have played a game of tag from childhood into adulthood (for more than 23 years). One month every year, they play the game, even though they have families, jobs, and adult responsibilities. It is based on a true story which was published in the Wall Street Journal. In the movie, this year the game falls on the same month as the wedding date of the only undefeated player. The other four friends gather to go to the wedding and attempt to tag the undefeated player. Tag stars Jeremy Renner, Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Jake Johnson, Hannibal Buress, Isla Fisher, and Anabelle Wallis.
My friend Lorena joined me for the preview movie screening of Tag at AMC Mission Valley in San Diego. We both enjoyed the movie. It is funny, entertaining, at times a bit silly, and over the top (it is an action comedy after all). It has good special effects and editing. The movie is inspired by a true story, but some of the stunts in the movie are probably more intense than what the friends in real life went to to play the game. Spoiler alert, stay until the end (the credits) and you will see home video of the friends which inspired the movie, a few of the ways they tricked the other in order to tag them. The movie is simply good fun and makes for a nice evening at the movies!
Below is the Tag movie trailer if you’d like to watch it. Tag is rated R and opens this weekend (June 15). For more information and movie times, click here TagTheMovie.com
