Getting Creative: Mixing Grays

Even though it is warm almost year-round in San Diego, we have a few cold weeks during winter. I love wearing jackets and as soon as the weather gets a bit chilly, I pull them out! Yet, in our town, during winter, you can wear a small jacket with a tank top underneath and be warm enough. Gotta love living here!

This velvet Ann Taylor jacket was such a good find! It is warm, but not too heavy, so I can also wear it in the fall. It has contrasting stripes in silver. It is versatile and can easily be dressed up for a formal occasion or dressed down with jeans. I used to match it mostly with black, but have gotten more creative lately, matching it with blue, white, red, and different tones of gray.

My style tends to be straight lines, fitted tops, and solid colors. I tend to stay away from busy patterns. Due to the stripes on the jacket, I used to match it with solid colors, but now it is trendy to mix and match prints, so I did just that. I had a bit of fun putting this outfit together by adding my favorite Ann Taylor leopard print tank top in gray, Calvin Klein red straight leg pants, white patent belt, and Coach light gray booties.

So, next time you are pulling one of your favorite jackets from the closet, get creative, add prints or colors you perhaps hadn’t considered in the past. Take a dare, you may be surprised by the number of compliments you get (like I was :))!

What do you think of the look? Do you mix and match prints? Do you have jackets you can wear in winter and fall?

Hugs,

Paola
